You can now explore a unique range of community radio services with enhanced audio quality via your digital radio receiver.
Check the service map for more information and you’ll discover a wonderful diversity of digital radio services: specialist music programs; news and current affairs; readings for the vision impaired; indigenous programs; educational programs; religious programs; ethnic and multicultural programs and youth programs.
Several stations are broadcasting all new services, some are time shifting programs broadcast on their FM or AM services in order to provide you with greater listening opportunities and choice and others are simulcasting their current FM or AM service.
Digital radio receivers will also provide you with visual information via text which scrolls across the screen – this is similar to the tickertape-styled text you may see on a television or computer screen. Some receivers have larger screens which will accommodate both text and images.
The community-broadcasting sector has helped shape, and continues to shape, the media landscape in Australia. It distinguishes itself from other media by providing local communities with access to media production, broadcasting services and participation in the management of those services. The new community digital radio services further the valuable contribution the community-broadcasting sector makes to independence, localism and the diversity of Australian media.
